A Red Rose to Remember the One You Love

Hi Everyone!

It's Scrappers Delights Thrifty Thursday again.  Take a look at all the cute images you can get for $1.  Don't forget to hop over to the store and pick them up.

Here is my DT project using Rose Tag.  This isn't a normal image for me to color up.  It's great to be on a design team that pushes you to do things outside your comfort zone.  I decided to enlarge the rose to 4 inches wide and crop the height to 4 inches to make it square.

I then print the image and cut the cardstock just a little over 4 inches.  Take a background stamp and stamp over the flower with a lighter color.  I used gray by Memento ink with a retired background stamp from Stampin' Up called French Script.  Then I colored the image with Copic markers.

To make the card, I layered up white cardstock in different textures.  One of those layers was embossed with a polka dot embossing folder.  The image was put on a black and silver foiled cardstock.

The saying is also from Stampin' Up from a kit called Petite Pairs.  It was also backed with the same paper as the rose and then wrapped with 1/8" white ribbon.

Copic Colors Used

Rose Petals R20, R22, R24, R27, R29
Stem G20, G21, G24, G28, T4

Don't forget to hop over to the Scrappers Delights challenge blog to see the other fabulous creations by the design team.

Surrounded by Love

I am running a little late, but this is a Valentine Card I made for my daugher.  I love this sweet image from Art By Miran called Be My Valentine.

Kit and Clowder released a free Backgrounds III tutorial with the February Create and Learn classes, so the background is done using one of the techniques in this tutorial.  It seems like I am always struggling when it comes to implementing backgrounds, but this was so easy and it looks so beautiful!  Thank you Alyce Keegan!  I am constantly learning something new from you!

A Thank You to a Generous Heart

The months of January and December have been very difficult regarding pet health.  I've had two dogs that have required ACL repair.  One dog needed a repair in January and another one started limping right after her surgery.  When I took him in for x-rays, they found that both of his back legs had ACL tears that needed repair.

The exhaustion with caring for them has been difficult enough.  But emotional toll of losing my job and all the vet bills have taken its toll on me.  A beautiful, anonymous friend from Facebook called in a huge donation to help alleviate some of the cost.  I can tell you that I rarely break down with circumstances but it was such a surprise that someone would call my vet's office and pay for part of the surgery.  I lost my composure when I went to pay and they informed me that someone paid for part of the surgery on my second dog.  I am so blessed, and God has shown me his presence by this gesture from his angel.

This is the thank you card I have made.  I will ask the office to forward it to this generous individual who prayed and felt compelled to help.

Alyce and Lila Bear

I had fun coloring this cute image commissioned by Linda L. Shannon-Miller with YamPuff at DeviantArt as a gift to Alyce Keegan.  You can see all kinds of creations used with this image as well as download the digital art at the Kit and Clowder Facebook group.

For this one, I used the May 2015 Create and Learn marker class for the background.  You can still get the instructions on the ice wall as a bundle at Kit and Clowder.  I added a crown to the girl and antlers to Lila Bear to create the scene.

As a side note, I have to say, the ice wall was a real challenge for me.  But I'm proud of how this turned out!

Copics Used:
Skin:  E000, E00, E11, E21, R20
Ice Wall:  B97, B95, B93, B91
Lila:  C3, C1, BG02, R02, E43, E41

Dress:  BG09, BG07, BG05, BG02, BG01 BG000
Crown:  Y28, BR21
Hair:  E43, E42, E41, Y000

This is a second coloring.  She is sitting on a background of flowers.  I thought it matched her dress quite nicely.  I wish I could tell you the color for her, but I forgot to take a picture of the colors!  I hope you'll enjoy her just the same.

Here is a close up.

Comic Book Fun

So excited to finally show my Comic Strip with Time-4-A-Cuppa bundle from Scrappers Delights!  You can get the comic book template for free by following the instructions in the February 2016 Comic Book Challenge at the Scrappers Delights Facebook page.

I used Photoshop Elements to create the scene.  The comic template is the main layer.  I then added images in .png format into different layers to build up the scene.  If the layers overlapped, I picked the layer of that image and erased the part that I didn't want to show!

Then I used masking to color the background with distress inks!

Check out the Scrappers Delights Facebook page for more comic book inspiration!
