Bethany Unicorn

An animal is something I would have never attempted to color a year ago.  But she's featured in Kit and Clowder's Animal technique class.  She's so easy after watching the video.  If you haven't taken the class yet, I strongly encourage you to do it!  Remember, the class price is in Australian dollars. Surrounded by Love

I am running a little late, but this is a Valentine Card I made for my daugher.  I love this sweet image from Art By Miran called Be My Valentine.

Kit and Clowder released a free Backgrounds III tutorial with the February Create and Learn classes, so the background is done using one of the techniques in this tutorial.  It seems like I am always struggling when it comes to implementing backgrounds, but this was so easy and it looks so beautiful!  Thank you Alyce Keegan!  I am constantly learning something new from you!

Products Used:

I dampened Hug Snug White Seam Binding and dipped it into Distress Inks Peacock Feathers.  I kept dipping and scrunching until I got the color I wanted and wadded it into a ball.  You can air dry it, but I used a heat gun to dry it quickly.

Pineapple Hat Head Girl

Ooooohhhhh, loved doing this.  The techniques I used to color this are found in Kit and Clowder's January Create and Learn markers class.  Instead of using the image for the class, I used this sweet girl from Etsy.  She's called Pineapple Hat Head and you can buy her from Lemonshortbread.

Alyce and Lila Bear

I had fun coloring this cute image commissioned by Linda L. Shannon-Miller with YamPuff at DeviantArt as a gift to Alyce Keegan.  You can see all kinds of creations used with this image as well as download the digital art at the Kit and Clowder Facebook group.

For this one, I used the May 2015 Create and Learn marker class for the background.  You can still get the instructions on the ice wall as a bundle at Kit and Clowder.  I added a crown to the girl and antlers to Lila Bear to create the scene.

As a side note, I have to say, the ice wall was a real challenge for me.  But I'm proud of how this turned out!

Aurora Wings Candy Cane Fairy

Boy time just gets away from me.  I haven't colored for almost a week.  How did that happen?

I had hoped to get this cutie done in time for the Kit and Clowder Advent Calendar day for Aurora Wings. But so busy with the holiday!  If you haven't yet, go to the Kit and Clowder page and click "Like" so you don't miss out on all the goodies Alyce is always posting.

This is one of the new stamps for Aurora Wings called Candy Cane Fairy.  She's so cute.  And gosh, I love Alyce's clothing class at Kit and Clowder which shows me how to put in pleats and folds in the fabric.  You can grab Candy Cane Fairy at the Aurora Wings shop on Etsy.  Click like on Mitzi's page too.

I do wish the picture could capture the glitter on her wings and stockings.  It is definitely way cuter in your hands!!!

First post for 2015 - A New Beginning

Well before I move into New Year mode, below are a couple of the cards I made for 2014 Christmas.    They were fun and I don't want to forget about them.  Putting them here makes it kind of memorable...at least to me.

This one uses a holiday collection image from Stampin' Up called Santa Stache.  I used felt for his mustache.  He was colored before I took a lesson from the Kit and Clowder Clothing Class.  It would be fun to do him again using the techniques I am learning.

This is also an image from the Stampin' Up holiday collection called Bearing Gifts.  I used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol to color the image.  So cute and so easy.  It's one of the reasons I like Stampin' Up so much.  They makes things so easy to do.

Ok let's talk about the New Year.  I don't like New Year's resolutions...it's so much pressure to keep resolutions, so I never make them.  But as mentioned in my previous post, 2014 was a tough year, and it appears the full time position I was hoping for will not become available.

SOOOOO...even though it appears a little of 2014 will bleed into 2015 and I still need to find a new job at the end of January, I think I should approach 2015 differently.  My new year's resolution is to try to color often (an Alyce Keegan influence) and blog often.  I'm not much of a writer, but perhaps this will be a new way to approach life...with new creativity and new positives in my life.

While I have been coloring several images, I haven't worked on getting them into cards.  Cards are hard for me to envision and put together.  Are any of you like that?  So for now, I will post one I've done recently and given to a co-worker who just celebrated her 25 year work anniversary.  It's hard knowing that I will no longer have the privilege of working with her after January.
